Metaphor A to Z

Nails

Nails are flat plates made out of a horny cell structure of the epidermis and they grow on the end of fingers and toes.

Our nails are protective and hard. They are also representative of tenderness and vulnerability.

Problems with our nails mean we have an injury in an area in which we are attempting to get or take.

We are feeling injured and wounded, ‘nailed’ by something that caught our fingers.

Nail-biting is a sign of nervousness and anxieties.
