Metaphor A to Z

Back Pain

Back pain is a sign that we have ‘backed up’ emotions about something with some residual resentment. We are afraid to move forward and instead have our back against the wall.

The backing up is a withdrawal, indicating that we are holding back. This can stop the flow in a number of areas such as money, sex, creativity, etc.

There is also an element of ‘getting back at’ someone through revenge. We feel overburdened and, while we may be moving forward, we feel we have to carry others, or the situation, on our back.

We are in a state of sacrifice, giving but not receiving and never truly giving ourselves.

If our back is broken, we are in a state of complete and overwhelming sacrifice, feeling helpless and without strength.
